Ah the Schwendeman's :) I always have so much fun hanging out with them. I was super excited that they decided to wear bright colors for the shoot and with my magical powers I picked out balloons of the same exact shades.....ok ok I asked first but it still turned out awesome. The last picture is after sticking a lemon in her mouth during out lunch afterwards.....awesomeness!

Jessica and I had a vision for what this shoot could be. It included sun, picnic baskets, and adorable clothing. I'm happy to say I think we hit all three major bullet points and then some. Though daylight savings tried to thwart our efforts, the shoot was a success and I'm very pleased with the results :)

Katie and Brian are some of the nicest people I know. I've enjoyed watching Katie go through all the stages of pre-motherhood and was so excited when I heard that little Tyler had made his arrival. This shoot was easy as pie even with 2 poopy diapers and 1 major spit up. I'll definitely have to go visit little Tyler again :)

Like any 1 year old, she's constantly on the move and so I certainly got my exercise for the day following their little family around in the 100 degree heat that we encountered. I came across a duckling in need of some rescuing. As my house offers nothing much in the way of duck accommodations, be brought him to a friends farm to live with 2 other ducks and numerous chickens. Before he left us though, my husband and I snapped a few pictures to remember him by.

Ohhh the Hills and the Kreneks....this family was under the impression that they were going to weird me out. They had ceramic cats dressed in pilgrim clothing, alternate personalities that included an angry dance, and abscessed teeth. But even after some interesting pants malfunctions, I was not fazed. I don't know whether I should be proud that my past experiences with my family had made me impervious to the weirdness of others, but it certainly made this shoot fabulously fun :) Good times folks, good times. Oh and John, don't worry, everyone's late sometimes ;)

L And Company

Megan Leadingham (L to her students and coworkers) and her family are just plain awesome. They were so much fun and we spent to whole time laughing about nonsense and reminding the grown ups to tone down the make out sessions in front of the kids. There is so much love in this family. Not only between Jason and Megan or Jason's parents, but also an unconditional love for the adorable children that complete this family unit.

This was by far one of the easiest shoots ever. I know I say that all the time but I'm dead serious this time. The Niemyski's (who own the school I work at) are some of the silliest, most laid back people I know. They were up for anything and were joking around with each other most of the day. They were great fun to photograph and I was never wanting for candid shots of them just having a good time as a family. The shoot was done in 40 minutes flat and everyone said "gosh, that was easy". Oh also, the picture of Paul brushing hair from Kam's face is one of my favorite shots of the day. It was such a sincere and sweet moment between them. Kam's hand is resting lightly on his knee and he is brushing her face with such gentleness....it was beautiful and I might have got teary eyed when I was editing it.....:)

The Borel Family

Toni is one of most energetic ladies I know. I've worked with her for 2 years now (minus a short absence for her to have the beautiful baby boy you see pictured) and have enjoyed every minute of it. Her family is not only a unit within itself but also an important piece of her extended family that get along wonderfully. There is so much love and pride in the eyes of each of the adults, and so much joy and curiosity exuding from each of the children. They were a joy to photograph.

Sonya and her family were super fun to work with. Lots of laughs to go around and most of them were stemming from the youngest Jonathan. He has definitely inherited his mother's sense of humor. The matching sweaters was a sore subject for Andrew the oldest....a little to Brady for him I think. Also, being 12 means being too cool for school and photoshoots. Everyone did an amazing job in the end though and I love the results.

I've had both Aiden and Avery as students and both of them are some of the most adventurous and personable kids you've ever met. I was so happy that I got to take pictures of this family, they are all so easy to work with. After we took pictures the kids scaled the rocks around the waterfall and learned to jump across the gaps....it was very exciting :)

You have no clue how long it's taken me to get the spelling of the Schwendeman name down. I have worked with Stacey for 2 years now and I still get it wrong sometimes :) Anywho, the shoot with her and her beautiful family was lots of fun. Stacey and her husband Nate are the coolest mom and dad Rylie and Eryn could hope for. Because of their coolness, the shoot was easy as pie and very natural. The girls were super cooperative and Rylie even asked if I was coming over later to hang out....awww....

Side note: this was the first time that I drove all the way to a shoot and got out of the car only to realize that my memory card was sitting on my coffee table at home. Needless to say, I was super embarrassed when I had to call Stacey and tell her I was going to be late.....I will not be doing that ever again....I hope....:)

New Season, New Camera

With the chill of winter sneaking in on us comes the discovery of new levels of photography. I finally went ahead and bought a new camera....something that I was avoiding for one reason or another. The result: I am giddy with love for this new device. I took lots of pictures of my students today but will only post those that protect their privacy....still, they are pretty darn adorable :)

Katie and Brian live near the Shops at Legacy so we took a walk around there for these shots. We forced Brian to do a few and then let him go watch sports while we did some fun shots. Ahh the State Fair...how I love thee. Spent the day there with my wonderful finace Jonny. We enjoyed walking around and seeing all the funny Texans and I got to document the adventure so we can prove to our children someday that we did participate in Texas-like things every once in a while. Afterwards we went to see a movie with our friend Laura and then went to a shop called VooDoo before eating dinner....this place was crazy. I'm just glad we got out alive.

I finally got Tyler to come with me to the flour mill! It was 1000 degrees up there but we had a great time and the results were fantastic. Afterwards we went on an adventure to random other places and ended up in a forest setting where she sat in a pile of poison oak. I asked her if she was allergic and she said "I hope not!"....luckily for her, she isn't.

Went to the flour mill in early 2009 to take Jessica's maternity shots. She was very clear that she didn't want to many posed shots so we tried to get lots of her just relaxing and chatting. She was super cool about the fact that most of the stuff up there is covered in dust and possibly bird droppings :) It was a great shoot and I was very happy with the results!

A friend of mine from work, Tyler, offered to let me use her as a subject. It was a 2 day adventure with the first half taking place at her apartment building and surrounding area and the second half taking place on the side of a road and in downtown McKinney. The clothes were provided by Tyler and by Plaza Thrift.
